Swim Plat form

Hello, I'm getting a little tired of swinging around like a monkey pulling my dogs up a rope ladder lately. I was wondering if anyone had a good solution or idea for a ladder that works best. Lately I've been thinking of buying one of those swim plat forms with the little step that folds down into the water. I was wondering if anyone had tried that and how they mounted it. It doesn't seem natural that the transom could hold my weight with only four points of attatchment but I could be wrong. I am concerned about drilling holes for a swim ladder and then having them rip out taking a giant chunk of fiberglass with them. Anyway if you have any background on this situation I would appreciate it. Thanks Ryan

I've seen them, and thought about it...

you'll need to add some backing to most if not all the transom... it flexes big time! Some keep the platform almost level with the laz hatch, others a foot down, others lower still. (my ladder still works, so I have not done this) but if I did it, I would get the 4 step nesting type ladder that mounts to the top of the platform. this should be long enought to get into the boat. on my ladder, I added 6' of thick line, to add a extra step at the bottom rung. also, you may want to mount the platform tilted slightly towards center, so when you put the weight on that side, the platform is more level.

do lyou have a photo of it in action

do you have any photos of it in action? as I would like to see how you mounted this thing like where at on the transom. Did you use any backing on the inside transom. How high should it go? Thanks for your reply Ryan

folding ladder

I put a folding ladder on the platform. The platform I got from overton's and the ladder off of ebay. I wanted a longer ladder then the one that came with the platform. I had a two step folding ladder on the boat. I just wanted the ladder reach down farther for my kids to get on. if anybody needs a one step or a two step ladder let me know.
