Swim ladder

1983 C34; I wish to extend the depth of the stern mounted swim ladder so that the first rung is deeper beneath the surface of the water (when the ladder is dropped). My plan is to lower the position of the ladder so that the “crutch tipped supports” are just above the edge of the transom. I also plan to add a folding step to replace the top rung. Has anyone made this improvement? I am open to all suggestions.

Ladder extension

Boat/US sells ladder extensions that hang off the the bottom rung. It is called Add-A-Step. You can also add as many steps to it as needed once you buy the starter step. I bought it but have not had a chance to try it yet. If I remember right it was around $20.00.

It works, I have one. However, it takes a bit getting used to when you pull yourself up.H.W.
