I'm thinking of swapping engines in my 1982 Hunter 27. I'd like to replace the 1GM with a 2GM. Does anyone know if the 2GM will bolt right up, or will I have to make mods. Thanks, Don

I repowered my 1981 Hunter 27 last year

I put a Vetus 16 HP twin diesel in. If you want to read about it check out owners reviews and look for mine. I could not be happier, its quite no vibration, I didn’t need to change my prop and it seems to have all the power I will ever need on a H/27. Vetus uses a Mitsubishi diesel. These engines are put in a lot of equipment ask any mechanic that has worked with these diesels and they will tell you they are tuff. I paid about $4,600.00 for mine and it cost about $1000.00 to have it put in. I had to bring the stairs forward about 1 inch and up about 1 inch. I did this myself. I had a new exhaust system put on and also had a water strainer put in.. (The old motor didn’t have one) The installer used the same angle iron base that was used to hold the old motor. He did have to flip them upside down and modify them however. I had an old Renault single and I would say of all the things I have done to my boat this made the most difference. It sounds good, its quite, and it just seams like the whole boat is nicer when you don’t have an old oily monster in it.
