Swapping in a new AB compresser unit

I purchased my current yacht with an already installed AB Cold Machine. It has worked well for several years (even though it is nearly completely rusted out! Come to find out there has been a leak right over it). I'm going to purchase a new unit. However, I don't want to go through the major hassle of taking out the condenser/tray from the refer box (the installation is good and I don't want to "fix" what is not broken). Soooo, my question is; Can I hook up a new AB system without installing the whole package? Will it loose all the freon (or whatever there putting in these things these days) if I disconnect the copper tubes? Thanks to anyone who can help. Tommy

Tommy, the model information on your machine...

should tell you whether it is the freon type. It is my understanding that the new non-freon types require different fittings. Scot from WAECO monitors this site and has been very helpful in answering my questions. Send him the model information from your unit and he can tell you for sure what you need to do. Terry

IF YOU CAN GET ME THE SERIAL NUMBER OF YOUR MACHINE AND THE SIZE WRENCH THAT FITS THE COUPLING NUTS, I CAN START TO TRY AND HELP YOU.
