I've just put a contract on a 1995 35.5 lying in Punta Gorda, FL. I need (and want) to have the boat surveyed. Since I don't live in the area, I would appreciate any referrals, experiences, (good or bad) you all might have as to who I might use. I have looked in the BoatUS guide and found several in the area, any help would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to getting the boat and joining the ranks of Hunter owners. Thanks

Might try my guy

I used Capt. Tom Calahan when I purchased my 336 from Sailor's Wharf in St. Pete. I was pleased with his work, and do recommend him. He might be willing to drive down to Punta Gorda. I have three numbers: 888.506.6494 727.823.0953 727.824.6301 Fax He even took my boat down to Burnt Store for me when I was out of the country. Good luck

It would be much better for you if you could be present during the survey. It would be worth the time and plane ticket or the trip down there as you can learn so much about the boat you plan to buy. You might even see things that the surveyor does not see and you can discuss these with him to set your mind at ease. Eddie Breeden at Hunter Customer Service (Hunter Factory) can also recommend very good surveyors in Florida that are specifically familiar with Hunters. Yes Boat / US is a good source too but talk with a few of them and pick the one you like or feel comfortable talking to. My surveyor, Warren Moore has a web site and other surveyors do too. He is at mooremarine.com. You can learn a lot from their web sites.

To Rodney: thanks for the name, I'll contact him. To Wayne: Your point about being there for the survey was obvious to me but I suppose some people don't think it necessary. I wouldn't even think of having a survey without being there! Thanks for the idea and name of the guy at Hunter, I've sent him an e-mail, he should be a good source!
