Surveyor- Kemah Tx

Have you asked your local broker or did an internet search on "Kemah, Texas marine surveyors"? I do both when before buying a new boat. Several reasons: 1) marine surveyors may be booked out several weeks and not capable of performing it within the purchase contract time constraint, 2) survey location might require someone closer who does not charge travel time since that could add several hours of there time / cost to customer.

Besides, a marine survey is only the start of the journey in getting familiar with the boat. Need other surveys outside the scope of a marine survey including engine, mechanical, electrical and rigging surveys, whether you have these done during the buying proces or after. I always have these done on every boat either during or after purchase that way I can have a clear picture of what condition the boat is in and what prioritized maintenance I need to do.

Thanks for your reply sfbay. This isn’t my first rodeo. I have a list of 4 surveyors in the area. I am looking to see if anyone has personal experience with a surveyor there and that could recommend one.

Interview both the marine and engine surveyors would be my next step. That is what I did on my last boat purchase.

Thanks JRacer. Got a quote for trucking. Almost double what we were thinking. That and other associated costs escalated the costs out of our price range. Pulled the plug

Anyone have a good experience with a surveyor in Kemah Tx?
I used Nick Maudlin, Newberry Associates when I bought my Lagoon in Kemah. Was very pleased with the work.

That was in 2016. Presume that they are still in the business. The family was pretty well connected to other players in the Kemah/Seabrook area, so they will know someone else.

Could also contact Doug Hughe, who was the Broker we used when we bought the boat. He was really great and knows everyone down in that area.
