Surveyor
We were looking at a used Catalina 30 at the City Marina and researched Charleston based surveyor's. Neil's name came up from many folks, but I was cautioned that he was so thorough that he was called by many surveyor's as too thorough. Thats good as far as I am concerned. In talking to Neil, he goes up the mast (one of the few) and will look at the "major" issues first like soft decks, worn standing rigging, etc., to let you know ahead of time if its worth his time and your money to proceed. Neil is a bit pricey, but considering just how thorough he is, he comes with strong recommendations from many in the area. We backed off on the Catalina and he never performed the survey for us, but we spend enough time with him prior to setting up the survey that we were convinced he was the guy to have on the job.Good luckBob
