Surveyor in Connecticut?

Greetings all,

I've been planning to trade up to a bigger boat for a while. One boat I've been watching has come on the market and I'm pulling the trigger. The offer is still under consideration so I don't want to say too much yet.

The boat is in Connecticut. I'm looking for a really thorough pre-purchase survey. I've seen the boat and it appears to be in good condition. I don't need help spotting the obvious problems (there are a couple, but I feel they're manageable). I want to know about the deeply buried one(s) that seller might not know about.

Any recommendations for a really good surveyor in CT or RI? The boat is in the Old Saybrook area.

Mike

Hi,

In 2021 I used Captain Burton Robson. I thought he did an excellent job.

Good luck,
Barry

I had a great experience with Dexter Holaday. He was thorough and knowledgeable, with boatyard experience so he was also able to give me an idea of what repairs would involve. The report was good quality. I would highly recommend him.

I ended up walking away from the boat but learned enough from the survey to feel comfortable doing it myself when the same model came up at auction a few months later and a professional survey wasn’t really an option.
