I am trying to purchase a boat 34' sailboat located at theNorfolk, VA Naval Base. Willoughby Bay Marina. Looking for the nearest Marina to do a Short haul and power wash.Suggestions appreciated,Thanks, Steve
Hey,You may already know this but I want to caution you on selecting a city to register the boat. I had the bad experience of registing one at V Beach. The tax bills were very high, (I never paid them as I was only in V Beach to buy the thing). Finally I was told to register the boat at Portsmouth where the property tax was only a few dollars. I travel all over the Southern Coast and just needed a place to make in legal.
Three-year registration for VA for a boat your size: $37Personal property tax in Virginia Beach for recreational boats is $0.000001 (1 millionth of a cent) per $100 assessed valueOf course sales tax is still sales tax and that is unavoidable.
I guess I get a little fired up when people are really out of place giving advice. Anyway, to answer your question, I'm not sure who has a travelift there on Willoughby Spit, but you may come around to Little Creek and take your pick...Cutty Sark, East Beach, Bay Marine, Taylor's Landing, and Cobbs. I think Bay Point Marina is the only one without a lift.
