boat survey

about to have survey done on boat would like to purchase. however the boat is currently at the slip in the water??

I looked at a pre 1980 30' Catalina many years ago in Southern California, and had it pulled out of the water for the survey (about $300 then) and the survey found extensive blistering with the surveyor recommending a complete bottom job. The owner refused to do so, insisting that it only needed minimal work on the bottom. That was a deal breaker, so I bought a new 1984 Catalina 30, and have never regreted the decision.
