Surface material in Head/Show

On my 1987 Legend 35, the head/shower walls (aft & port) are plywood which is then covered with an adhesive back (or glued on) white textured vinyl material. I think it's original, but I'm not sure.

The attached photo show sort of what the texture looks like.

I am doing repairs to the wall that is the head/shower wall on one side and the companionway on the other, so I am looking for a similar material to use so it matches the rest of the head/shower.

It looks like it would come on rolls.

Anyone know what the material is, and were to get more of it.

Dunno, Chris.. My '85 H-34 has a formica-looking soft white facing bonded to the plywood bulkheads..
Stuff looks like vinyl top material from the auto industry?

go to home depot or lowes... shower stall skin and sometimes known as alligator skin for shower walls/back splash..

it comes in thin fiberglass sheets or another formulation of plastic that I cant recall right now.... either type is easy to work with.

Due to compression post leak, I also had to repair a delaminated portion of the bulkhead common to the head and salon. The bulkhead was 4 ply with teak veneer and white "painted" surface on the head side. I ended up routing out the two damaged plies which fortunately were on the head side. Luckily, I was able to use masonite to fill routed portion, did some sanding to level it, and painted.

For finishing, Behr elastomeric, masonry, stucco & brick paint (white no. 68) worked perfectly. It is waterproof and because of the "elastic" properties does not crack or peel when flexed under stress. In addition, it results in a slightly "dimpled" surface like the original. This was about 5 years ago and it still looks just fine.

What's on there now is certainly thinner and more of a peel and stick type of stuff, this could work, but would be more work to glue and trim. It's certainly not too expensive.

I think you will find that this product is Melamine. It is used to make cabinets and other products.
