Took a few days and went over to Biloxi for the Fourth. First day was Slidell to Cat Island. Had slow going till out of the Rigolets, running against the tide. Then once out into Lake Bourne, it turned into one of those days you dream about. Had 10 to 15 knots, 50 degrees apparent. Kicked back and watched the world go bye, with the auto pilot on, averaging 6 knots. Just about perfect. More dolphins around Cat than I have seen in a long time. Anchored up about 5:30, and watched the dolphins and the sunset, with a glass of wine. Next day a nice three hour run over to Biloxi. Checked into the now open Point Cadet Marina around noon on Monday, the Fourth and met up with some friends. The re-opened marina was a pleasant surprise. Rates are a buck a foot, including power. Then three days, they go down to
50 cents per foot. As would be expected, every idiot and his brother were out and abouat Monday. The channel behind Deer Island was like a circus, and was very glad I only had to make the short run coming in, and wasn't out among them. Saw a splendid fireworks show Monday night. Sitting in the cockpit with good friends and a few libations. I did find out that the food and beverage manager at the Isle has changed, and the food in the buffet now leaves something to be desired. A shame, as it is so convenient to the marina. Spent two days and headed for home Wed. afternoon. Another wonderful sail back over to Cat Island. More dolphins, another sunset with a glass of wine. Only not good part of the trip was from Cat Island, back to Slidell on Thursday. It was Hot, Hot, Hot, and absolutely no breeze. Just a long trip on the diesel and auto.
