STEVE,

Thanks. But the question is do you know 'where' the sump pump is located on the 309, It may be the source of my problem.

If you pull the top drawer out on the port side underneath the V-berth, the shower sump is behind that drawer. My question is, do you all have ice boxes as well as refrigerators, or are you talking about the refirgerator drain that Y-s into the shower pump? I have #22 and we do not have an ice-box, just 2 dry storage lockers in the counters in the galley.

Ken -

There's a previous thread on this somewhere. Bottom line is Catalina changed one of the dry storage lockers to an insulated and drained icebox on boats starting in the 20's (obviously after yours). Mine (#14) also has two dry lockers and no drains.

John,

Hmm. I kinda like the way we have it. We use one of the lockers as a larder, storing all of the dry food, and the other for pots and pans and such. If we need an icebox we have a "little oscar" that we keep under the settee table. I don't think you would have much galley storage if you took away the second locker and made it into an icebox. Our refridge holds plenty for us on a weekend, including some large bottles of wine, which I must have apres sailing!

Yeah, I agree the storage space is more useful. We use ours for the same purpose. You had any problems (yet) with your fridge running on 12 VDC? Mine's been fixed once under warranty, but has quit again and will only run on AC. I use an extension cord plugged into an inverter outlet to power the fridge away from the dock. I'm looking for a better fix (new frdge vs improved external rectifier, which seems to be the culprit).
