Coast of Maine

This summer we've opted to sail the coast of Maine. We will shift our boat (L37) from Narragansett Bay in RI to Portland, ME on July 4th weekend (150nm) and return on Labor Day weekend. We will sail weekends from there and have a 12-day cruise (Casco Bay to Penobscot Bay) planned with a Hunter sailing club in Maine (See related link). Anyone want to join?

Ray, Keep us posted.....

... alot of us plan to live vicariously through your adventures! I said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm jealous. As for my sailing plans - just a bunch of overnights on the weekends. I met up with three other 20 odd footers for a tie up in a cove on Saturday night. It doesn't get much better! Rob

Probably day sails

My big semi-realistic plan is to convince the family to overnight in a protected cove nearby. More likely, I will convince the kids (ages 8 and 5) to overnight with me once at the dock. Most likely, I will be daysailing with the occasional sunset cruise.

I'm staying off the water

It's too hot, there's no wind and the lightning will ruin your day. See you in September. Peter H23 "Raven"

One Medium Cruise Many Weekends

We plan to get married and sail to New York from the middle Chesapeake Bay. Other than that we are going to cruise each weekend with our sailing association to various anchorages on the Chesapeake.

Hot summer sailing

I will be returning to familiar midwest waters for summer sailing. Spending several days at a time, when the winds are calm you can always slip into the water for a refreshing dip. There will also be lots of sunset and moonlight sailing.(nothing better than a moonlight sail) My work load enables me to spend 3 to 4 days at a time, then home for the domestic duties....The blue water sailing will come in time! Smooth Sailing, Carol

AfTER 40 YEARS

After 40 years of raising kids (one was born when I was 41), careers and part time sailing, my wife and I are leaving in July for extended cruising. Have installed a genset in our new H356 and almost have the radar/chart plotter installed. Then we load provisions and parts. Gulf Coast, FL, Bahamas (2002) and up to the NE (2003) are our plans.

Jose...

...we are leaving Portsmout, RI on July 3rd and heading to Sandwich, MA to clear the Cape Cod Canal. We should be in Gloucester on the night of the 4th. Then to York Harbor, ME. Then to Portland, ME where I will have a slip. Sailing in tandem would be good, if our schedules match. Contact me thru the Owner's directory on this site.

Gulfs, Bays, Sounds & Canals

We will take a 10 day cruise from the Gulf of Maine across Massachusetts Bay to the Cape Cod Canal. Then through Buzzards Bay towards Long Island Sound to Block Island. Stops planned are Sandwich and Cuttyhunk in Mass., Newport and Block Island, RI, then Red Brook, Scituate Harbor and back to Ring's Island in MA where we keep our Hunter 336 all year. The flotilla includes another Hunter 336 and a Catalina 320. ORION, Second Wind and Affinity are the vessel names, respectively. Bon voyage.

Cruising the Georgian

We are expecting friends from Clearwater, Florida to join us for the Georgian Bay Sailing Regatta. This is a series of races over seven days on the east coast of Georgian Bay. The rocky coast. Our 1986-23' Hunter is Florida so for this race we will be using our 1970-26' Grampian. We will be up against a fleet of boats from all over the Great Lakes. I think our Gampian will be one of the smallest boats in the fleet.

I believe you ditchdiggers call it the St. Andrews Sound, Georgia. The worst stretch of water on the ICW.But after crossing to the south,Cumberland Island awaits and its beauty is worth the trip.
