The furling equipment for the genoa on my 1991 Catalina 28 is on its last legs and I want to replace it. Any suggestions for a replacement furling system based on positive experience is welcome. Bill G. sailor4498@optonline.net

I just put a Furlex 206-10 on my '86 H285 and love it. Practical Sailor did a review of most of the major systems not long ago and I seem to recall that all were judged pretty good. It may a case of price and who is going to install and service it, if need be. Let me know if want any further info on the Furlex.

Profurl
I put a Profurl on my Irwin 37 6 yrs ago and it works great. My boat is now down in mexico and the profurl seems to be the favorite choice of cruisers down there. It has sealed bearings, requires almost no maintenance (periodic cleaning of the headfoil luff grove), goes on over the existing head stay (self installed), and can be readily removed so you don't bend the headfoil extrusion sections when you pull the mast. Take a look at some.
