Hi Craig, it would help us focus better if we...
knew how the boat is equipped, such as:1. Is it a traditional sloop rig? 2. What kind of ground tackle? 3. Does it have electronic navigation equipment? 4. What do you have for creature comforts below decks?5. How much time do you plan on spending on the boat?6. Any extended cruising plans with your new boat?We were happy with our first boat; an H28 for three years, but never stayed more than ten days per cruise maybe once a year mostly at marinas. It had the standard set of sails (main & jib), a cooler, a basic hand held GPS, depth and speed meters, etc. When we became more serious about sailing and traded up for our current boat, our wants and needs changed as well. We've had Belle-Vie for five years and have added some new stuff to make her more accommodating during our two month cruises plus numerous excursions each year. Even so, when we took possession, she already had a suite of stuff that made her very attractive; two reefers, genset, two heat pumps, tv/vcr, tuner, microwave, three burner gas stove with oven, etc.We also sail year around here in PNW waters, so that also influences what you want or need on a boat. Of course it may take some time with your new boat to sort all this out; it did for us.Terry
