Sugar scoop for hunter 34

Almost any store that sells china should have sugar scoops. *rim shot*

But seriously, can a sugar scoop be added? I guess I always figured they were built into the original hull. Inquiring minds want to know!

Dee and Earl did the same this season. I think Earl bought the molds off of Tim. Really looks good, AND extended waterline length!!!

A dock neighbor installed a sugar scoop on his Freedom 32. Looks good, works well. It was done years ago in Port Townsend, Wa.

Interesting. I wonder what it looks like today. In the pics it looks added on. Some paint and striping would help integrate it. My goal next season is to get good at backing into my slip so we can use the walkthrough transom for weekend boarding. We're not getting any younger and my guests are land lubbers ! I have a stone jetty in front and boats on either side so it's a little intimidating.

I must admit I had no idea what a sugar scoop was until reading the forum. And now I would like to know a lot more about it. Anything to tame that weather helm gets my attention. Would appreciate any info from you brave souls who added the scoop to your H34.

Hey guys I am a post virgin... yup post #1. I've stalked this site for many years and sucked a lot of great info from a lot of good folks; I thank you for your input. This past spring I installed a Sugar scoop on my Hunter 34 which we have sailed on Lake Michigan for the past 10 years. The scoop has made an incredible difference in the way the boat handles, it's like going from one boat to another!
