Last weekend I tried to replace the impeller on my Universal 25 (Oberdorfer pump), but when it came time to re-fit the snap ring on the pump shaft I couldn't get the @#%# ring to snap tight. I'm sure I'm missing some ridiculously simple technique, but I'd appreciate any guidance.

Make sure the impeller is all the way on
the shaft. I then use two small flat blade screwdrivers to push the clip ring onto the shaft. It's kinda like brain surgery. Have patience, it will work. Clip one side on, and then work around the rest of the "circle." Once I figured it out eight years ago, I drew a sketch and keep it in my onboard engine maintenance log as a reminder.

Snap Ring Tool
Lost several of these snap rings on a Universal 25, bing and they are gone. That is until I discovered a snap ring tool in my local automotive parts store.
