Stuffing it.

Finally tackled the stuffing box on my H37C after cutting a door from the aft cabin. From all that I had read figured it to be a 30 minute job. Wrong! Even with the door I could only work with my left hand, my right arm under me and my head squashed against the hot water tank. It took an hour to get the old packing out. I had the real tool, some coat hanger, a sharp awl, and a couple of small drill bits. It took all of those. I was surprised at how little packing would fit. I had purchased the dripless kit, it goes between two regular rings of 1/4" packing. I was able to get very little of the dripless stuff in between two rings. Once I did then I couldn't get the threads to catch to screw it back on. Kept working it in with a screwdriver until a thread caught. Then I was able to get about two turns with the wrench. A tough job one-handed! I know, I know, PSS Dripless. A week from today we get her wet!
