The stuffing box nuts on my boat have 12 or so small lobes on them. Does anyone know of a special wrench designed to fit? Right now, all I've used successfully are two, 16" long pipe wrenches. They work, but they're a little big to keep in my tool pouch. Kent sv Osprey Mamaroneck, NY

sells an adjustable packing nut wrench for around $13. Best to by two if you have a conventional gland with a compression nut and lock nut behind it. However, I've found the adjustable wrench works well on the compression nut and a large pair of Channel Lock pliers will grab and hold the somewhat smaller locknut on my conventional bronze gland.
