This Old Boat
In my often-clueless opinion, for what it's worth:1. Trailerable boat: MacGregor Venture 22, 1969-1980. The simplest thing is the cheapest, fastest, and most fun.2. Coastal cruiser: Hunter 30, 1973-1980. You're right; it is an excellent all-round family cruising boat with enough of everything to please anyone.3. Offshore sailing: Hinckley Bermuda 40 Mk 3 (tall rig) yawl, 1968-... (did you expect me to say anything else?). Absolutely the BEST example of a production 'yacht' I can think of. Has everything going for it, especially a Bentley-like ability to hold value (you NEVER hear of one going for a song-- I've looked).I really have to hand it to the pro-Hunter contingent, though. All things considered logically, the H-30 IS a good choice. Thanks for the memories!JC 2
