Still here. It’s been an intersting week, working again, living in a nice litte marina, eating most meals ashore (the next credit card statement is going to hurt!. It’s sort of a preview of the ICW, a narrow channel lined with boats and marinas. Since it is between the bridges though, the powerboats go by very slowly and not one has bounced me. A beautiful spot. It’s between the Downtown and Fort Rachel marinas and not listed in many guides. There are only a few slips but it’s worth checking if you are in the area. There is a boatshop right there and the owner is as nice a fellow as you will meet. John, (860) 536-3186.
Work took a little longer than expected and Barbara was able to stay until Saturday so I didn’t get out to take advantage of Thursday’s east wind. Just as well since this as good a spot as I could be in to wait out the near gale force winds that have been blowing since and will blow through Monday.
Barbara and I drove down the sound to see some of the family, a friend drove out from Stanford yesterday, and my brother is driving over today. I will therefore have taken care of all the visiting I planned to do on the way to New York so this delay may end up not slowing down my progress very much at all. Look for me to be underway as soon as the weather forecast here gets a little more reasonable:
