The original strut on my 1982 H-36 was made by Dahmer Marine Hardware Co., old part no. H-33 or new part no. 2005, and they just went out of business two weeks ago. Their phone line has a recorded message (we are closed). There is a web site and an email address, but so far no response to my inquiry from them.

I need to replace the strut (badly pitted and corroded)and if anyone has any suggestions as to where I might find one of these struts, or alternatives, would be a big help.

I checked with Hunter Marine and they also told me the company was closed.

I was hoping that perhaps a boat parts dealer may have one in stock, but so far no luck in finding one.

That is some really bad news. Literally thousands of us have old Dahmer struts. Mine has been straightened once. There must be another source but wouldn't Hunter know?

I checked with Hunter Marine customer service. They had no suggestions at the time. I checked with Buck Algonquin, they make quite a few struts, but none that are exact replacement. I am considering one of theirs by modifying the attachment point on the hull to match the original strut such that the shaft is in alignment and centered with the shaft log. They also told me that they are trying to buy whatever they would need (tooling rights?) from Dahmer, but at this time have none available. Perhaps in the future they will have an exact replacement for the H-33 strut. I suspect the H-33 model (now listed as part no. 2005) was used quite a bit in several Hunter models.

The struts on some of the later hunters are from Southeastern Foundries Corp, 2706 Oakland Ave, Greensborough, NC. 27403, Phone 336-299-7211 They may have something that you could use without a lot of boat modification...
