I have a very slight "wiggle" in the prop strut. Looking inside, I see a mound of glass covering the nuts or bolts heads. What is the procedure for getting to the nuts and what is the recommended repair of the mound of glass once the strut has been tightened? ( I will also groove the mating surfaces outside and refill with either epoxy or 5200. ) All suggestions appreciated.

Help is Appreciated

Tom, Thanks! Those links have more info than I got from Catalina after 3 calls and an e-mail ( with no responce ). I am somewhat frustraed that the California home that built my boat is not interested in helping me maintain it. The power of he forum is great!

Maybe just a bad day at Catalina

I have always had prompt responses when I email Catalina with a tech or parts question. I just ordered a replacement fuel tank for my Catalina 30 from Catalina yachts, California. Not many companies around that you can order a new fuel tank from, for a good price, for a 24 year old boat !!

Catalina Responce

Catalina did call back after one more call today. They very helpful and expressed concern for the delay. My take is that they are under-manned in tech support. The answer is that the fiberglass from inside must be removed from arround the nuts. This is difficult and the factory no longer covers these up due to the mess of repair. Two diagrams were e-mailed to me to direct my efforts, one of which I already had via Tom's link. I was told that this same process was used for many boats ( 27,28,30,34,36,& 38 ). Thanks to All.
