structural question

The bulkhead wood that supports the bed in the front of my 84' H23 is rotten and moldy. If I remove everything so I have an empty front, does this cause any structural issues? Is it fine for me to sail this way?

I'm certainly not an engineer, but my gut reaction is, it must be there for a reason. I think on a boat that small, every bit of structural support you can get is worth keeping.

At one time there were a number of people who posted about replacing the bulkhead . Sorry can't answer about structural issues . I do think it provides some support for the cabintop . Dave Condon will chime in soon and give you a good answer . Just be patient . We loved our 89 23

replace it using a piece of cardboard for a pattern first. You may have to sand off the fiberglass tabs down to the hull.

IMHO... That bulkhead is probably the hoisting point where the strap of the lift will go.

Thus, when lifting, prevents the boat from collapsing on itself.

As far as sailing, the chain plates are probably in very close proximity to this area indicating the support for the tension they exert on the hull at that point when tensioned to support the mast.
