Stripping deck paint

I am in the process of fixing up my first sailboat, a '66 Cal25. Next job is to strip the deck paint and repaint it. What do you suggest - chemical or sanding/scraping? Obviously im concerned about damaging the actual deck but want to find the easiest way to get the job done. Thanks.

I would start with a chemical based stripper that is safe for gelcoat. It could be that your gelcoat underneath only needs a good buffing to bring it out thus eliminating the repaint.

If it's non-skid, ya might have to use a heatgun to get it off.
