I need to re-shape a slightly damaged tip of the keel. I presume that the one of physical properties of lead is infusion in a molecular level. In simple words if two clean lead surfaces are attached to each other, the ions will infuse from one surface to the other and in certain period of time there will be one monolith structure.
How to strip an antifouling paint and other substances in order to clean a damaged area to its normal dull lustre color. There are quiet a few paint removers, thinners and strippers. What would be the best one? Is it necessary to apply a fiberglass or epoxy coat to protect bear lead after repairs?

I found out by accident, that denatured alcohol really cut my anti fouling (ablative) paint. I looked like a "Smurf" after a job below. But after you get the anti-fouling paint off, you still likely have gelcoat to remove and maybe epoxy barrier coat. My first impression is use heavy power wash to remove initial covering, then scrape, then denatured alcohol, and finally attack the barrier and or gel coat. wjh

Simplest and easiest way is Peel-Away. Apply a thick coat and cover. Leave stand and remove with a putty knife, it works great.
