Anyone from here going this year?

We are packing the wagon and getting the horses ready to go next week. Can't come soon enough it has been -35 degrees where I live for the past few weeks.

Any sea food rest.suggestions near the show? Not fancy just good food.

If you see someone there that looks like he has been without sun for four months well that would be me!!

Or me... I will be by Thursday briefly. Not a lot of time as I have appointments at the convention center.

I still am making time to check out the Catalina 5 series.

Go north a bit to Fort Lauderdale. World famous !!

http://www.15streetfisheries.com/
SERIOUSLY? Great view, BUT THE FOOD... :naughty: (it was just OK 5-10 years ago). try the pier 66 for same view and better food.

OTOH, they feed the tarpon at the fuel dock (next door at the marina) at 4pm IIRC. that is worth the trip..... or buy some 'hoos from the bait cooler, and feed them yourself.

Tarks is a dive on US1 in hollywood, with very fresh seafood, but its a dive. (diner like).

southport is also good but is a sports bar. near 17th street...

but doubt anyone will head that far north... just for dinner/lunch.

recommending 15street is like recommending the rusty pelican (on Key Biscayne). amazing view, just don't eat the food.... or order something safe.

The pier 66 is across the ICW from 15street fishieries. -you can get your parking validated at the pier 66 restaurant. have a drink at 15street fisheries but eat somewhere else.

+ you for got BOW. (and WM)
The best part of FLL is the port and airport are within 3 miles of each other.
All (most) the support services are located in a warehouse district off SR 84 (near (famous) 'Lesters' diner. hardware braded hydraulic lines, electrics, AL stock, etc...
macdonald's hardware is a fully equipped Ace store with vast inventory. -all the support services /stores go there for their parts.

Be careful in Downtown miami. 4 blocks west of biscayne blvd is a 'high risk ' area... (pay to park at bayside)

-I would like an update on any boats under 38' at the show.... my experience is mostly the larger boats are shown.

Echo to being careful downtown. An alternative place to park are the public lots in the median of Biscayne Blvd, right in front of the park and Bayside. I have never had a problem finding a spot if I got there before 10. Much cheaper than the Bayside garage, and just as convenient.

I love the mileage sign. In fact, I know where it is at on Rt. 99 I think. Back in September, my wife and I paid a visit to Whistler to stay but really to hike in the surrounding countryside. I was shocked while driving thru Pemberton, there was a McDonald's. However, we drove and hiked over toward Meager Mt. northwest of there and saw the partial collapse of that mountain that occured in 2010. The road is open now. It is sad to see the glaciers dwindling but dare not drink any of the water coming off the slopes unless treated for sure. It was amazing how courteous the folks in Vancouver and all over were. It was like stepping back into time when that was the norm in the US.

Thanks Dave, it was time to retire the previous ogre avatar.
Pemberton is a very friendly place and the local 1st Nations, the Lilwat, are also fine people, the friendliest I have met so far.
The MacDonalds, well, thats life, try the Pony Expresso, a town fav.
That was some landslide, the hot springs are also popular at Meager Creek. First time I've even seen a tour bus on a logging road !! The Duffy Lake Road is one of the top ten drives in N.A. as rated by a motorcycle magazine, and of course, Whistler Mountain has the best Mountain Bike Park in the world for the younger ones. Whistler put in a Peak to Peak tram and that is very popular in the summer to. Here is the web cam, it should be sunny this afternoon and a great weekend for snow sports. http://www.whistler.com/webcam/?gclid=CLiHw47FobMCFcN_QgodnjYAyw
Thanks for your posts Dave, always enjoy reading them.

Mr. Bill

Yes your warning about the four block zone from the show is correct

Last year after the Saturday night bash party and after much consumption
we forgot that we took the water taxi from Sea Isle to Mia Marina

Earlier in the day we tried to get into the garage and it was full so we parked at an open lot north and west of the mall closer to the Marriott

Well talk about uncomfortable!!!!

Made it just fine but the admiral was not happy

Scotties for lunch ?

We were in Coconut Grove, Biscayne Bay for 2 months last winter. We had many good lunches at Scotties, I think it would be a good haul for lunch from the show. Is there good public transit between those two points ? If so then the marina would be a good place to park while at the show.

We will be at the show on the 15th. Still have not decided on parking. I have a 4x4 pickup and height can be an issue with a garage. Any outdoor suggestions for parking ?

Bob
