I have a 1987 Hunter 23 which has what appears to be small hairline cracks along the lip which goes around the edge of the deck. It appears to be mostly cosmetic but I was wondering if others have seen this also. If so, is this a fairly easy repair job?

Get used to them.

If it is like all boats its is not a problem. If it is just hail line cracks you will see allot of them.

repair?

I am not sure exactly where you are talking about but from the description, I would assume a gel coat hair line crack for an older boat that is common. It appears to be cosmetic and not structural. I would leave it alone but again depending on the specifc area there are several things to do. Let's say that you can get underneath. Is something bulging against the surface or not enoungh glass laminate. Could re-gel coating the area work. These are questions I cannot answer since I can not determined exzact location from you description. Leave it alone as long it is cosmetic

I agree

Just fixed some hairline cracks on my 31; it's a major pain to do it correctly. As they said, if it's not causing a structural or functional problem I would not attempt to repair it. You CAN, however, use a deck-colored paste wax to fill in the tiny little buggers so they are not so obvious. The wax stays in the cracks for about 6 months. Jay
