Streamstay II furler problems

Hunter 31 Baltimore
My 1985 Hunter 31 is equipped with a Streamstay II jib furler (from when I purchased the boat in 1987). This is an above-the-deck furler with 2 -piece removable drum (for when deck-hugger racing sails are used).
Of late, I have been experiencing some binding / jamming when trying to retract the jib.
Not being caused by binding - jamming - override of the actual furling line on the drum.
Are there various bearings within the system that need to be lubricated or replaced.......
Or is it time for a new furling system/ ??

Rig rite has a web page on the furler and it appears some parts. They may be able to help. http://www.rigrite.com/furling/Streamstay2/streamstay_two_furling_system.php

Furler do have bearings in the base. While in use salt and other dirt gets into them and fouls the system. A good squirt of liquid dish soap into the drum and a hose of water may help to dislodge, wash out the unit and revive the system.

Rig rite may have more info for you.
