STrainer cover plate question

This cover strainer...... Is just held on by self tapping screws right into the hull..... Is this the correct way to hold it on????

I also fastened mine on with bedding compound (4200)

Slotted strainer

Yes, mine is held on with screws into the hull and a little caulking. I suggest that you replace the strainer with a slotted strainer/cover with the slots facing aft. It really stops a lot of the seaweed and eel grass from entering the engine intake and fouling your raw water strainer.

Just a note this is the intake for the forward head.... But I do appreciate the pointer
