Strain on furler

I just used my spinnaker for the first time the other day after finding it in our deep locker, and where I set up the block on the middle of my anchor roller it made the line that goes up to the fibreglass bracket that holds it on the furled head sail, press against the side of the plastic roller when on a port tack (see photo)

But I think it is clear of it on a starboard tack. Will this be too much strain on the side of the furler roll?

There is another metal loop that is in the anchor side of the twin rollers that is further out which I may be able to use. I thought that it may get in the way of the anchor if I left it there. Thanks

You can see the other metal loop at the front next to the anchor in the first photo

How are you transitioning from port to starboard?

From the looks of your lazy sheet in the second photo, it doesn't appear as if you gybe the sail.

Hard to tell.

Looks like you are running the asym pennant inside the railing. Should be outboard to avoid contact with the furler and facilitate gybing the sail. As far forward as possible is best. I've installed a bail on the anchor roller and run the block from it.

Agree

More forward better and just attach a block on the forward pin hole should be much better.

This setup is for an inside gybe which is faster. But that strap around the headstay is complicating things. Remove that strap and fly the clew as far forward of the headsaty as possible. The deeper you sail the higher you can raise the clew which will allow the luff to float out to windward of the boat for better performance and deeper sailing.

I see what you mean I just manhandled the sail around. I can now see that if I run the lines around the front of the sail completely I will be jibe it easier, thanks

Then you'll just have to watch for the anchor snagging the sheets.
