The little buggers will crawl right up the mooring lines. On the sub we used rat guards. Cones fitted to the mooring lines with the open end of the cone towards the dock.

...all this week i have been watching the boat for the little fury buggers...only seemed to be one left and he was under cover...he wouldn't go after the peanut butter traps for sure (he must have seen his buddy get it last week ).....so my neighbors dog was back home this week and i borrowed him to patrol the boat...the pic below is of Louie The Wonder Dog......put him on board and left him to his job and low and behold after about 20 minutes of snooping and sniffing around all over the boat he earned his keep...... the wonder dog is a rat terrier that knows his stuff....

thanks everyone for the replies lots of good info has come out of it....and i hope to be able with this info stop this from happing again....

i forget who it was but someone on this list once said... as you get older your boats get bigger and your dogs get smaller......

i sort of get the feeling you would have to stand in line with Louie the wonder dog and bubba the boat cat.......
