Thanks guys for all the great post and info. I'm sorry to be so long getting back to this thread and posting. The pictures were great and so is the information. I believe i have settled on an alcohol stove for the inside, and a new grill on the outside. I hate to spend so much but the grill on the outside is old and dangerous. We have no stove inside at all.
Appleman I love the idea of the "rocket" for coffee. I wondered if those little powerhouses had a place in the boat. I didn't think of the single use for coffee. Great idea. I too love my Ida rudder, for all the reasons you said. In addition I believe she balances better with that rudder.
Do you 26 owners know if the alcohol stove will attach to our little starboard side fold down table, or did you guys put it somewhere else and get it out when you need it.

You just might be a cruising sailor if laying on you back watching the mast draw lazy circles in the clouds makes you smile!

Oday 272LE Ninnescah Yacht Club, Wichita, Ks.
Joe and others,
would like some info on what and how you have stoves on your oday. Joe i went to your mods album, but your stove and galley pics are not there. i recall seeing yours sometime in the not so recent past. could you tell me what thread, or repost. thanks
Our 272 LE has a 2 burner origo built in - 4000 model. We love to anchor and fix good meals...I'll do rib-eyes or pork tenderloins on the magma while my wife fixes uncle ben's 10 minute wild rice & aspargus on the origo below...we cook a lot of breakfasts there too....egg's benedict...she makes enough for 15 -2 0 people to stop by....the origo's are great stoves..use for coffe too...The Martha Stewart Stainless coffee pots are wonderful....

Our slip neighbors would do fabulous gourmet meals below on their Erickson 28...they had a 4000 w/oven. ..when we first bought the boat (new) we would grill hot dogs...tom and Sue taught us that the best times are on the boat, so why not prepare the best meals on the boat at the lake....anchoring out on a hot Kansas summer day is a treat with good music, good food, &
good friends.....same w/anchoring out for breakfast.....Bon AppePaddy.
