Maybe it was a "harbor cable", stretched across the waterway for anchors to snag on if they drag. Saves the dock and other ships, I suppose. I think Nassau has- or had- one?

It was old school, no, I'm not seeing that, but still open to it. If you saw it like me, double line 5 inch apart, twins, and I was close enough to cut it which would make your thery worthless you would understand my point, dam sunk boat saved my life.⚓

Went I hung down till my head was hitting the water off starboard bow to cut the two lines I saw the texture of the rigging that was caught on my anchor, a stake knife from the galley all I have at hand, so I start to cut, one foot under water, slow one foot roll waves not to bad. Have to cut two lines, start to cut, easy to cut, little white center about size a small pea, cut both, free at last God all mighty free at last. Blood everywhere. This old wreck is like a hundred years old, pieces everywhere. Pray the crew swam to shore. It saved my life and crew. What I find interesting is what was the ropes attached to? I have 600 pound keel just for starters, the current and sand protected this wreck and I'm greatful for it but there is more down there but it is very dangerous.⚓

My most common statement during our trip, and I quote myself.... " I'm in a movie and I can't get out", UN quote.... ⚓

I have a anchor drag alarm hand held, it didn't go off cause I was unknowingly hooked on the old wreck, it went off later when we tried to get in Pass a grill Marina inlet and could not, just sand there and 3 foot waves will drag you into the rocks. I was in the wrong spot by Egmont Key, storm coming in-between Egmont Key and Anna Marina Island, north of Passage Key, southwest channel, 100 yards East of the bell, but the lines we hooked came from the West, South West, both up and down. 40 knot winds 5 foot white caps that night. We held or I would of opened jib half way and pulled around behind Egmont Key more for shelter. You truly Need 3 anchors, one front, one rear and one extra. 8 am back to 1 mph half foot roll. I'm in a bad movie and I can't get out. Batteries out, no anchor light, crew safety comes first, I call for a tow to Pass A Grill Marina for repairs before heading north in the IC to Blind Pass Marina and hitting two sand bars on the way, wiggle off with engine no big deal, no engine your stuck like Chuck.
