Storm Trysail

I've been having so much fun sailing this season, I've scarcely had an opportunity to post anything. Now two questions in a single day. Something must be off.

I'd like to try my hand at fabricating a storm trysail. Does anyone know where I can get a pattern, or some measurements, and the best way to rig a trysail on our little Vegas?

Pura Vida!

Jack,
I have a great little book by Ian Nicolson called "A Sail for All Seasons".

It covers trisail design and also how to calculate the right size for your boat. The book is full of other neat sail-related ideas and help.

When I looked at the idea of the trysail the thing that stopped where financial resources, to put another track on the mast.

Otherwise you can imagine unloading your normal sail on a rough sea, then loading the trysail.

Peter,

Great advice as usual. I did some looking and the book should do the trick. I have an old (really old, as in original) mainsail that I think I can re-cut. If it seems to do the trick, I'll try sewing a new one.

Thanks again. Great lead!
