You can always build a PVC furler. Search SBO and Google for it. I built mine for about $50. They work great for boats under about 23'.

Adrian;

When you look at a cost of a small storm jib, compare the costs of roller furling as well. If it is not much more, then you may want to reconsider your options. Home made furlers may be option due to low cost but suggest you really research that route first.

If you go with a commercial furler, look into the small one by CDI which you can purchase thru the Hunter owners website.

I agree with Crazy Dave about the homemade furled, they aren't perfect. I have used the PVC furled for the past year, I do 90% of my sailing solo, so it works good. When it comes time to replace the foresail, I will also get a real furler for it. I replaced my main with this years tax return, so the foresail will have to wait till next year. Keep in mind that unless you go with a pvc type furler, you will need to have a different foresail, one meant to go with a furler.

My boat came with a jib, a 150% (which I put on a homemade furler), and a storm jib. The storm jib has never been out of the sail bag, and the p/o says he only used it a couple times.
