has anyone installed a little sail for the bad weater on Clipper 411? has anyone enjoy for it? how much does it cost ( in general made by your ouwn) . Do you have any paper designed for this system? ATN gale sail? Might be an option seems pretty well conceived. Looks like about $1000 USD for your size boat
Before buying an ATN Gale Sail consider heading up to the bow in conditions that mandate it's use, attaching it around the furled jib, and keeping up with whoever is struggling to raise it (think wet canvas on wet canvas). Not a real-world solution in my mind.
Agreed! If conditions are bad enough for a storm jib you definitely don't want to leave a furled headsail up there. If you're going forward anyway, drop the headsail and install a true storm sail. Forget 'home made' for these conditions. When the shit hits the fan you want a well made sail up.
Im not familiar with your boat, size or its capabilities. But, If you get caught out in a blow with some distance to go and you need a storm jib (wind over 30) I do not recommend one of those fit over a roller furl jibs, They are too hard to hoist in the kind of conditions we are talking about. Your best bet is to take down the jib you have up and put up a jib you can buy that should be less thab 50% of the fore triangle. if you have a hank on jib its not to bad. with roller furl its going to be harder. You might find a used one at one of the used sail dealers.
