rubrail
IO also purchased my rubrail and holder from rudy at d@r, he has become a very valuable resource. We attempted to heat the back rail up but it became too soft and we cut it off and started over again. I have a 26 ftr o we were working with roughly 60 feet ,we started in the stern and worked our way around the boat 2people at once . My partner was pulling and stretching and I was screwing the holder in with 11/4" s/s screws. The bow was the toughest spot, thank God it squares off a little so there were only really 2 bends up there. Only 4 total on the whole boat. We started in he center of the stern and ended there and the junction is covered with a s/s cover. I was not aware of this site in those days ,but I do know that if you do a search in the archives you will find the info you need. I also did not caulk the old screw holes as I could have. You may want to look into doing that as well. I also suffered some damage in that same storm only on saturday, I lost the rubrail on the bow and I think on the port side as well. I just need to get on the boat and refit it and if needed rework it around. The stuf seems to stretch with time or posibly gets hooked as yours did and just lets go. Not hard to fix I have done it a few times over the years. I also had 1 of the gudgeons for the rudder break and then the upper pintle snapped too.I guess its time to change all that hardware, I'll be calling rudy as soon as we are hauled out and on the hard so i can work a little easier.
