Storage under seats

I am interested in creating water-tite storage under the seats. Specifically to mount a pair of batteries to run an electric trolling motor. I done this on my Hobie Holder, that I just replaced, and it worked out splendidly.
However, before I go cutting a hole in my new to me Hunter, I'd like to confirm that the seats are in fact hollow. Can anyone tell me ?

all boats under 20ft require flotation to be built in, so it is probably filled with foam.... but this does not mean that it cant be opened up and enough foam removed from that area so as to create space to install a locker.... the manufacture is required to put enough foam to give the boat positive buoyancy when swamped.... and quality manufactures will make sure they add about 20% over the minimum requirements, so they remain in good standing with the coast guard test facility...

if you dont want to remove any flotation, find another place in the hull to add some to replace what you take out when making room for the locker.....
