Storage on the hard

Lancer PS Thunder Bay
Sorry this may be an obvious question for some of you (I'm hoping it is) but I can find no consensus online regarding this.

When storing my Lancer 27ps on the hard (or trailer) will the weight rest on the keel and the stands provide lateral support? or do you guys distribute the weight between the stands and keel? I always thought they were meant to rest on the keel and the stands to keep from falling over.

Thanks again!

You are correct that most keel boats (I'm unfamiliar with Lancers specifically) are designed to take their full weight on the keel, so that the side supports are just to keep the thing from tipping over. Placing too much weight on the side supports, particularly if poorly placed between the stringers, can cause permanent bowing in of the hull. If unfamiliar with storing your boat on stands, please consult with a knowledgeable yard or friend. People have damaged their boats, or even been killed, by tipping boats.
