Storage cabinets under V Berth on C-28

Purchased this boat new in 2002. The cabinets under the V berth are hinged at the bottom with a piano hinge. These "V" shaped lockers will "fall through" (fall back into the empty space behind the cabinet frame and the locking mechanism) when fully loaded. According to Catalina Tech Support this has NOT been a problem on other 28 MKII's. Catalina promised to send a stopping device back in August, however they have not done so or have not responded to my calls and emails.

Any other mid size boats have this problem? And if so, what has been your resolution?

Hi Kirk,
I'd like to buy a Cat 28. How do you like yours? They are hard to find. Know of any for sale in So. Calif?

Other than the problem described, it has brrn a perfect boat. Easy to sail, comfy cockpit and low maintenance. I can't think of anothet boat I'd rather own. Except maybe the new 445.

capt. kirk.... i have hull #649 and have never had or heard of a problem with those cabinets..... but then i don't load them heavy. has the bulk head lifted off the inside of the hull an inch or two....? also me thinks you should end your text with "kirk out" fair solar winds..... brian...
