Those of you that stay aboard for a week at a time know that storage is at a premium and once you really get sailing things you thought were stored start to bang around. I have decided to build a storage cabinet in my Hunter 26. Since no one ever sits on the area next to the head wall I am thinking of building it in as if it was always there. I plan to attach it to the head wall and the port berth/bench. I am planning on cutting down the cushion to fit. My best guess is about 16 inches wide by 19 inches deep with five shelves including the existing bench. This will allow me to buy baskets to fit on each shelf for easy storage and a door to keep it all in place. Any suggestions or comments?

Best of luck and please post pictures when you are done. I would enjoy seeing how it turned out.

Storage in H26

Interesting idea; are you really running out of storage or just want something more convienient? There are lots of places to store stuff on this boat - they are just not real easy to ge to sometmes. Will be interested in how your project comes out. You might want to check this link for other storage ideas. http://kobernus.com/hunter260/storage/storage.html

Laundry basket

We put a lot of "STUFF" in a standard laundry basket and set it in the car. We haul the basket and all the stuff onto the boat and either bungee the basket somewhere or jam it tween the table and the settee back.
