Storage Bin

I'm a new owner of an O'Day 27, built in 1977. When being winterized the marina inadvertently broke one of the fiberglass bins that fits under the seats in the salon. How to pay for it is a converstion I'll have with the marina; but, any idea where I can get a replacement part?

I find that larger bins, available from hardware stores, are much more useful. They sit on the hull, can be moved around to accommodate other objects, and can also be immobilized if necessary. I have approximately tripled the storage space available.

Thank you for your reply, and offer. On the one hand, my bins are 11.5"W x 23.5"L x 8.5"H from the outer edge of the very top of the bins. I could send a pic, if that would help confirm. On the other hand, I'm curious how your hardware-store-bins fit. The O'Day bins are held in place by resting on their upper edge. This keeps them off the angled hull, and in one place. I'm thinking that if I put stock bins in the hole, they would not sit flat and would slide around. Is that not the case?

I have seen the storage bins you refer to, but thought they were an accessory as opposed to standard. My 1985 O'Day 26 does not have the bins but openings have wooden covers and I simply use quality plastic bins with locking covers that fit through each opening and allow me to store considerably more items. Of course, you could use both your drop-in bin inserts to store frequently used items and still not waste all that additional storage space by adding separate plastic covered containers. Perhaps Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine (508) 644-3001 could assist with locating replacements for your original bins.
