I have seen a number of MacGregors go up for sale once the engine is stolen.
Is this a case of the damage done during the theft, such as cutting off the engine and transom with a chainsaw, which seems to be common and the lines being cut.
Is the damage done to these boats so excessive the owners are bailing out of them rather than trying to fix them, or can the transom be reasonable fixed and so on, if the price for the boat is right.

Macgregor 26X Florida
X-boat

Seems 2me it would be cost of a new engine, mostly
mine is a honda 50...even used..check google or ebay???

repair can be reasonable/considering your abilities/preferences..
...just bolt-on quickNdirty right thru original transom....
or mucho dollars to have a yard or 'specialist'
the only advantage here is the trailerability....
you can take it inland away from the most expensive area...
pic below is new trlr ...replaces iron junk that came with X-boat

mine is parked for the winter in my driveway in the Pocono mts
easier to do work under the cover....

A boat with a chain-sawed transom might be an insurance write-off, depending on what the insurance company estimates the repair at (done professionally).

of course this is a windfall for someone able to fix the transom.
