The the covering on my lifelines has become sticky. I used soft scrub to clean them, tehy remained clean for a day and then became sticky again. Has this happened to anyone else and can you reccomend a good cleaner?
Sounds like the plastic is deteriorating. Is it possible someone has cleaned them with acetone in the past? I don't know how to stop that kind of deterioration but perhaps someone else here will. Sorry!LaDonna
Island Girl is supposed to have a cleaner that will restore the finish. It can be used for fenders, dorade vents, lifeline covers, hypalon, etc. Check with Jim on the Gel Coats and Plastics forum.Les Murrays/v Ceilidh86 C-36 #560
I don't know if this will work in your situation, but our lifelines had discolored badly (although the underlying wire and attachments were good). We used Nicro Cote spray paint on them, and they now look good as new. It's actually a spray plastic coating, and may work to overcoat the sticky surface.Matt BoultonC36 #843 AndelainGroton CT
