Hi all-

This is the head on my 1980 Catalina 30. It works fine and it fills a holding tank which pumps out easily enough. Standard setup I assume.

Pumping the handle is a little tricky as the motion is sticky and it's not uncommon that it leaks a little at the handle while pumping as well.
My question is:
Is this something which can be repaired by replacing the components of that pump? Or, alternatively is a new head required? It basically functions fine and does it's job it's just a little sticky, seems silly to replace the whole thing if there is something I can do.

I have no idea what model head it is so I've included a couple images.

Thanks!

True, but a more lasting solution would be to pull the plunger, grease the affected parts with silicone grease (Super Lube is common) and add glycol for the season; it is that time of year. Most likely the joker valve will need replaced too.

Vegetable oil is not recommended for most head parts or for the sanitation hoses. It works, but shortens the life of the part incrementally. The manual will specify silicone grease. Always consult the manual first; I'm sure it will give more complete maintenance directions.

I have the same head. It's a head mate by Wilcox. They still sell parts for them. Pull the pump from the middle of your altered handle. It may not get stuck as much. Mine is the original handle (t-handle) pulls from the center not to cock the pump rod. I replaced the joker valve this year head still works great. Hope this helps.
