Hello,

I have an Aquameter Saturn bulkhead compass on my Hunter 25.5. Its not smooth and sometimes sticks, if tap it lightly it will eventually move to the correct position. There are no bubbles inside it.

Has anyone ever fixed anything like this? I thought I'd post here before I go off and reluctantly buy an new one.

Thanks,

Warren.

I believe the Saturn line is not serviceable - you can't even change the diaphragm or top up the fluid. I don't know where that leaves you, other than replacement.

is it possible that the compass is not mounted level, and the card or ring is hanging up on the side of the enclosure? I can't think of another reason (barring damage or just worn out) for a good compass to be sticking.

Take it out of the bulkhead and turn it rapidly back and forth .. on its vertical axis. slowly tumble it away from you and toward you.. roll it left to right and right to left.. do that a few times and see if it loosens up some.... in other words, make all the pivots work completely around a few times..
