I believe the threads on sea cocks are standardized...british imperial yada yada something...to make sure I will go below and use a thread checker but I think the bronze ball valves with the grease zerks is over the top and offers the peace of mind. Im ok with plastic light weight stuff on my irrigation system but not on my hull, I know I'm wrong and space age technology has plastic like stuff strong as ever but I like the look of bronze..it gives off a warm secure glow in my mind. I'm down with Stainless too, but the SS i found does not have a grease zerk...maybe its so good it does not need one. Having said that, SS can gaul and seize coming off too and SS is more of a High Pressure thing...we use them on decompression chambers these days but back in the old school days we used bronze..Jamesbury ball valves...a no no today. There is no pressure to speak of that bronze can not handle

Do not use Clorox or Muratic acid to clean the Delrin valves.;)
______
I have changed one valve while on the water.
I got the exact same as type for replacement, had a Peg ready to drive in the spot, opened the new valve, apprehensively watched as my son-in-laws unscrew the old valve, quickly screwed in the new valve, a few threaded turns [geyser started], close the new valve 50%, threaded it in place tight, and then finally close the new valve.

That procedure put about 1 gallon of water in my bilge.:pimp:

But it took about an hour for my Blood pressure to go back to normal.
Jim...
Water gushing up through your hull...i had to take my high blood pressure meds just reading your post

I do not blame you. I get queezy at the sight of marelon valves. I have had them. They were fine, but... I always imagine snapping one off...
