Is it me, or when you see another sailboat going your way, you start duelling. I can't help myself, but this weekend even reefed, I had a ball pointing higher than a 33.5 which was ahead of me on a reach. I pulled ahead only after several beats when the wind shifted so it was close hauled all the way. So does anyone else out there get a little competative when you can. TJ Flash H26.5

Competition

I saw a quote somewhere that whenever two sailboats are going in the same direction, there's a race. Rings true for me.

Did it this weekend too!!!

I do it often, I came up on a Cat.27 mk II this weekend with my new H310 and I just had to go out of my way to show that skipper who's boat is faster! I don't like that skipper anyway. I did my thing and back to my old course it was... Steve, s/v Obsession..

But of "course"!

Are there actually some sailors out there that don't do a little extra sail trim when they are on the same course as another sailboat? I thought it was part of the "rules of the road" or the sailor's code to try and trim just to catch-up or go a lttle faster than the sailboat a head of you!! When you see another boat it's a challenge to try and pick up another tenth of a knot!
